Store robbery
A lone gunman on Wednesday night robbed a service station of an unknown amount of money, according to a Goldsboro police report.
A clerk told police that a black man entered the Spur station at 2000 N. William St. at about 9:15 p.m., then brandished a silver handgun and demanded money. The clerk handed over the cash drawer, valued at $50, and the suspect fled, the report said.
The robber was described as black and 6-feet tall with a heavy build and a shaved head. He wore a black jacket and dark pants.
Anyone with information on the holdup was asked to call police at 705-6572 or Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. Callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
Home damaged
A rental home at 205 Fussell St. was damaged Wednesday in a fire that was believed to have been set, a Goldsboro police report said.
The back steps were set on fire, and the fire then spread to vinyl siding, the report said. Damage was estimated at $50 at the home that was occupied by Denise A. McDuffie and owned by Scott Penders of Pikeville.
Collisions
Damages were estimated at $13,025 in two recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, the Highway Patrol reported.
*Damages were estimated at $5,000 in a two-vehicle collision at N.C. 111 and N.C. 581, or Bill Lane Boulevard, the Highway Patrol said. One driver, Joseph Baker, 69, of N.C. 111 South, was charged with a yield violation. The report said he was making a left turn and the northbound pickup truck collided with a southbound car. The other driver was identified as Alex E. Gutierrez, 25, of Al Drive, Seven Springs.
*A car was demolished in a one-car wreck at 12:01 a.m. Monday on North Beston Road near Sun Valley Drive, the Highway Patrol said. The southbound driver, Meghan Elizabeth Pittman, 16, of Hood Swamp Road, LaGrange, was charged with driving left of center. The car crossed the center line in a left curve, then careened off the right side and struck a mail box and a tree, the report said. The car was valued at $8,000. Other damage was set at $25.
Investigations
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*A television, a video-game controller, a DVD player, a compact disc player and $5 were stolen Wednesday from a home in the 1500 block of Emmaus Church Road, sheriff's deputies said. The thief had damaged doors to get inside. The resident, B.L. Newsome, estimated the value of the stolen property at $755 and damages at $300. A cash box that had $186.47 and belonged to Goldsboro Worship Center at 900 W. New Hope Road also was stolen, the report said.
*A television was stolen between Oct. 28 and Wednesday after a door was damaged at an apartment in the 200 block of Beal Street, Goldsboro police said. The resident, Barbara Oates, put a $100 value on the television and set damage at $75.
Drug charge
A Goldsboro teenager was arrested Wednesday night by Goldsboro police in a fast-food restaurant parking lot and charged with a felony drug offense.
Emilio Berned Creswell, 18, of South Best Street was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and an opened container violation. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 secured bond.
