Warsaw plans 85th celebration of Veterans Day

WARSAW -- The Warsaw Chamber of Commerce willl begin celebrating Veterans Day early next weekend.
The chamber will sponsor a pre-Veterans Day Celebration to honor veterans in the community at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30 at the First Baptist Church of Warsaw on West Hill Street.
The program will include poems, songs and speaker Jo Cameron Jones, who will honor those who have served in the armed forces.
The Veterans Day theme this year is "It's all about remembering."
The 85th Veterans Day celebration in Warsaw will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5. A memorial service will precede the parade at 10 a.m., and the parade will begin at 11 a.m.
The grand marshal for the parade will be Retired Brigadier General Ken Newbold, commander of the 30th Infantry Brigade, N.C. Army National Guard.
The Warsaw Veterans Day Parade is the oldest consecutive Veterans Day celebration in the U.S. The community began holding the parade in 1921.
