George Reeve Silver Jr. of Goldsboro was awarded the degree of doctor of veterinary medicine by St. George's University during a ceremony held at the Head-quarters of the United Nations in New York City.
Dr. Silver plans to continue his education for one year before going into private practice with his father at Wayne Veterinary Hospital.
He is also the son of George and Pam Silver and Charles and Ann Stackhouse.
ToniAnn Rose Gam-bella, daughter of Bobby and Anne Marie Gambella of Goldsboro, has been invited to join Meredith College's White Iris Circle. Members' duties include giving weekly campus tours to visiting prospects and their families and speaking on student panels at visitation days. Members also travel to local high schools to deliver recruitment information and speak with students about Meredith.
Qiyong Xian of Goldsboro has been selected to receive a Presidential Scholarship at Campbell College in Buies Creek. He transferred to Campbell from Wayne Community College, where his name appeared on the dean's list. He is the son of Qingxiang Xian and Dexi Liang.
Chris Campbell, a 2005 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School, has been awarded the Presidential Freedom Scholarship. His award packet included a letter of recognition from President Bush and a President's Volunteer Service Award pin. Campbell will also receive a $500 scholarship to cover expenses at UNC-Prmbroke where he is a freshman. The scholarship program is sponsored by the Corporation for National Community Service to recognize and promote service and good citizenship by students.
Several students from Wayne County received degrees from Wilson Technical College at the end of the summer semester:
Angie Grove Hart of Fremont graduated with high honors with a degree in criminal justice technology. James Brandon Frowein of Goldsboro received a degree in fire protection technology. Deborah Edwards Davis completed the practical nursing education program. Decarlos Orlando Stanley finished the heavy equipment operator program, graduating with high honors.
Angie Grove Hart, Catalina Delacruz Marc-ovich and Tennille Wood-ard Mitchell of Goldsboro and Wendelin Radel Sorenson of Pikeville are on the summer semester dean's list at Wilson Technical Community College.
Chelsey Willoughby of Princeton recently participated in the Governor's Page Program in Raleigh. She spent a week providing administrative support as a page for the Office of the Governor. She is the daughter of he daughter of Kim and Ann Willoughby and is a senior at Rosewood High School.
Timothy Davis of Goldsboro recently participated in the Governor's Page Program in Raleigh. He spent a week providing administrative support as a page for the Department of Commerce He is the son of Jack and Fannie Davis and is a student at Wayne Community College.
Donnetta Warren of Snow Hill received the Outstanding College Award given by the Cameron School of Business at UNC-Wilmington. An accounting major, she has a 3.537 grade-point-average and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the honorary business fraternity, Beta Alpha Psi, the honorary accounting society, and the Cameron Executive Network.
