Goldsboro artist among LaGrange show winners

Brenda Behr of Goldsboro was among the winners in the 2005 LaGrange Garden Spot Festival Show and Sale at the La Grange Arts Center.

Martha Smith Brooks from Morehead served as the show's juror.

She presented the first-place award to Ms. Behr for her watercolor, "House in Minnesott Beach."

Other first-place awards went to Deborah Phillips in the oils and acrylics division for "Red Jug with Pears" and to Anne Croom in the mixed media division for her "Sidewalk Chat."

Second-place honors were presented to Elaine Hughes, oils and acrylics, for "The Red Mailbox"; Sherryl Janosko, watercolor, for "Autumn Glow"; and Jean Dexter, mixed media, for "Have You Ever Been Here."

Third-place award winners were Bob Pittman, watercolor, "Hanging out to Dry"; Lisa Shaw, watercolor, "Ocracoke"; and Freda Badrock, mixed media, Landscape."

Honorable mention awards went to Richard Brashear, Sarah Hickman, Eddie Cox, Miriam Seymour, Gwen Gobble, Mary Lou Harris, Joy Brinkley, Amy Oseroff, Peggy Krofchick and Frank Hughlett.

The Viewer's Choice Award went to "Beautiful Bouquet" by Sherryl Janosko.

The exhibit will remain on view until Wednesday. All entries are for sale.

The LaGrange Arts Center is open on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
