Mount Olive candidate forum to be held Oct. 18

MOUNT OLIVE -- The Mount Olive Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a candidates forum Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. in the Senior Citizen's Center at 711 N.W. Center St.

The forum will give an opportunity for the community to meet the candidates informally and to hear their views during this short program.

Candidates who have been invited to participate include Mayor Ruff Huggins and Gilbert Usher, who is challenging Huggins for the mayor's seat; At-Large town commissioner Ray Thompson and challengers Jessie "Jack" Faison and Rick Kraft; District One town commissioner Ora H. Truzy and challenger Kenny Talton; District Two town commissioner Paul Smalley and challenger Hosea Manley; Tom Preston and Billy Rivenbark, who are seeking the District Three seat left vacant by town commissioner Lloyd Warren, who is not seeking reelection; and District Four town commissioner Jimmy Kornegay and his challenger, Gene Lee.

The Forum is sponsored by the Mount Olive Area Chamber of Commerce.

Light refreshments will be served at the event.
