Wayne students donating blood

High school students in Wayne County Public Schools are giving of themselves, donating blood to the American Red Cross.

The Red Cross conducts a blood drive at each of the high schools during the school year. On Sept. 20, students and staff at Spring Creek High School donated more than 53 units of blood, surpassing the goal of 50 units.

On Tuesday, students and staff at Southern Wayne High School exceeded their goal of 50 units, donating 57 units of blood.

A blood drives was held at Goldsboro High School on Thursday and others are scheduled at Charles B. Aycock High School for Tuesday, Eastern Wayne High School for Oct. 11, and for Rosewood High School on Oct. 20.

Students who donate blood must be 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds.
