Junior Volunteers honored for their work at hospital

Two youths were recognized for their contributions as volunteers at Wayne Memorial Hospital over the summer.
The 2005 Junior Volunteer celebration was held Thursday night in the hospital cafeteria. The theme was "Volunteers Plant the Seeds of Kindness," said Donna Archer, program coordinator.
Junior volunteer of the year was Kayce Brantham. The service excellence award went to Brooke Dove.
Ms. Brantham is a returning volunteer who has served in several different areas of the hospital during the past four years. This summer, she put in 50 hours in the nursery and on the seventh floor.
"Although still shy, Kayce has grown into a very capable, talented young woman," Mrs. Archer said. "During those four summers, Kayce has served 247 hours."
Ms. Dove has also volunteered previously, accumulating 142 hours of service during the past two summers, Mrs. Archer said. This year, she worked in the areas of the nursery and staff development.
On her nomination form, she was recognized as being very helpful.
"She is more than willing to help in any way needed," Mrs. Archer read. "She is always nice, offers excellent customer service and performs her duties well."
The junior volunteer program has been offered at Wayne Memorial for several years. This summer, 50 volunteers participated, contributing 2,058 hours over the seven-week period.
