On Thursday, Goldsboro residents can enjoy the Caribbean sounds of Captain Cook & the Coconutz. The North Carolina group was established in 1986 in Charlotte, and works almost 50 weekends a year. They have performed at festivals, clubs and outside shows, entertaining audiences with their original music and high energy covers that feature many of Jimmy Buffet's greatest tunes.
Bring your kids, lawn chairs, your dancing feet, and your appetite. Taste buds will be tempted by Pizza Inn specialties, Nature's Finest Hot Dogs, downtown Elk's Lodge will provide barbecue and Ham's Restaurant will be serving hamburgers and frozen drinks. Coca Cola is one of the Downtown Goldsboro Development Corporation's annual sponsors and donates all proceeds from the sale of their drinks to the local Boys and Girls Club. The jam will be held from 5:30 through 8:30 p.m. at the Waynesborough House parking lot on South Center Street, with the band beginning at 6 p.m. The next Center Street Jam is scheduled for Aug. 25, with The Embers. The Main Event was rained out earlier this summer and has been rescheduled for Sept. 8.
