Time for soaking up the sun has run out for procrastinators who plan to attend Wayne Community College this fall.

The last opportunity for new and returning students to register for classes is this week. Registration will be 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday on the college's main campus in Goldsboro. The new semester starts Aug. 15.

Before new students can register, they must first enroll. Potential students need to submit an application and have all transcripts sent to the college. They also must take the college's placement tests.

The college's admission application, catalog and fall schedule are available at www.waynecc.edu. The application can be completed on line through a link to College Foundation of N.C. on the WCC website.

At $39.50 per credit hour, a semester's tuition for a full-time, 16 credit-hour in-state student is $632. Students must also factor in the $16 activity fee and the cost of books and equipment, which school officials say can match the tuition.

Yvonne Goodman, associate vice president for student services, encourages all students to apply for financial aid, but says they must do it now and advises them to do so online at www.fafsa.gov.
