Drug charges
Three people were arrested Monday by Wayne County authorities and charged with felony drug offenses.
Two were arrested by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad after a confidential call to Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers and a search of a motel room.
*Christopher Alton Tann, 28, of Rudolph Street was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
*Caressa Hope Atkinson, 19, of East Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway was charged with maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping and selling cocaine. She was jailed in lieu of a $4,000 secured bond.
The third person, Gerald Lane Meadows, 17, of Slaughter Street, was charged by Goldsboro police with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine at Olivia Lane and South Slocumb Street. He was jailed in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
Money stolen
The theft of money from a supermarket and a fast-food restaurant is being investigated by Goldsboro police.
About $364 and three cash drawers were stolen between Monday and dawn today from the Burger King restaurant at 1106 N. Berkeley Blvd., a report said. What might have been pry marks were found on a door, police said.
An employee at the Winn-Dixie supermarket at 1805 Wayne Memorial Drive reported that someone entered an office, opened a safe and took an undetermined amount of cash. No sign of forced entry was listed.
Collisions
Six people were injured and damages were estimated at $52,100 in 10 recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, the Highway Patrol reported.
*Two passengers were injured in a one-car wreck at 12:01 a.m. Sunday at Wayne Memorial Drive and Hare Road, the Highway Patrol said. Daniel Bostwick, 21, and Tasha Patterson, 19, both of New Bern, were taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, the report said. Their driver, Joseph Earl Hall, 18, of Fort Run Road, Pikeville, was charged with reckless driving. Hall said his brakes failed as he approached the stop sign and the car crossed the intersection, struck a ditch and stopped in a cornfield. Damage was set at $1,000.
*A southbound Goldsboro driver was injured and damages were estimated at $10,000 in a two-vehicle collision at 7 a.m. Sunday at U.S. 117 and Country Club Road, the Highway Patrol said. Mabell McNair, 47, of Banks Avenue was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, the report said. The operator of a westbound tractor-trailer truck, William Dexter Jackson, 73, of Country Club Road, Mount Olive, was charged with a yield violation.
*A driver said a cow jumped a fence and struck his pickup truck at 6:44 a.m. Saturday on Corbett Hill Road near Grantham School Road, the Highway Patrol said. Mark Randall Smith, 37, of Corbett Hill Road, Mount Olive, was neither injured nor charged. His truck had about $4,000 in damages.
*Damages were estimated at $6,400 in a two-car crash at 9:50 p.m. Friday on U.S. 70 near Lake Wackena Road, the Highway Patrol said. A driver leaving the Village Green parking lot, Thomasina Louise Barnes, 72, of Berry Street, was charged with a yield violation. The report said the car that she was driving collided with an eastbound auto driven by Flora M. Moorman, 58, of Durham.
*A driver from Florida was injured and the truck that he was driving was demolished in a wreck at 4:30 p.m. Friday on Dobbersville Road near U.S. 13, the Highway Patrol said. Bose Marshall Jr., 65, of Leesburg, Fla., was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, the report said. He was charged with driving left of center after the truck ran off the left side, struck a concrete bridge railing, straddled the creek and struck a bank. The truck was valued at $5,000.
*A deer collided with a van at 6:31 a.m. Friday on U.S. 13 near Overman Road, causing about $5,000 in damages, the Highway Patrol said. The driver, Joan Orsi, 57, of North Babylon, N.Y., was neither injured nor charged.
*A Goldsboro motorist was injured and damages were estimated at $7,500 in a two-truck collision at 2:42 a.m. July 19 at Falling Creek Church and Bennett roads, the Highway Patrol said. Terry Lamont Evans, 37, of Twin Creeks Drive was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, the report said. Evans was charged with reckless driving. The report said Evans had fallen asleep and his pickup collided with an eastbound tractor-trailer. The other trucker was identified as Eric Bradley Bordeaux, 28, of Elizabethtown.
*A sport utility vehicle was destroyed in a wreck at 6:03 p.m. July 18 on U.S. 117 Alternate near Ludwell Drive, the Highway Patrol said. The driver, Merrie Emeline Bunch, 26, of Sleepy Creek Road, Dudley, was charged with following too closely. The report said the SUV crossed the center line to try to avoid a slowing vehicle but ran off the left side, struck a ditch and overturned. The other car was not struck. The SUV was valued at $5,000.
*Damages were estimated at $5,500 in a two-car crash at 9:30 p.m. July 17 on Camp Jubilee Road near N.C. 55, the Highway Patrol said. A southbound driver, Aurelio Pizarro Rivera, 37, of Clover Drive, Mount Olive, was charged with driving while impaired and driving left of center. The car that Rivera was driving collided with a northbound auto driven by Sylvester Antonio Grady Jr., 20, of Albertson.
*A driver was injured in a one-car wreck at 11:55 a.m. July 16 on Buck Swamp Road near Stoney Hill Road, the Highway Patrol said. Jessica Nichole Tarkington, 23, of Mooring Lane was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, the report said. She was charged with exceeding a safe speed. The report said she lost control of the car and it struck a bridge railing. Damages were put at $2,700.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*An amplifier and two speakers were stolen between July 11 and Monday after a truck window was smashed in the 100 block of Larchmont Drive, sheriff's deputies said. The owner, Patrick Daniel McGuire of Nashville, estimated the value of his stolen property at $500 and damage at $200. At the same time, Corey Michael Mitchell reported the theft of four compact discs, a coat and firecrackers from the Larchmont Drive home. His property was valued at $110.
*A metal utility trailer was stolen between July 18 and Monday from Goldsboro Worship Center at 900 W. New Hope Road, deputies said. The trailer was valued at $800.
