Eighty one building permits issued

Eighty-one building permits with construction costs totaling more than $6 million were issued in Wayne County during June, according to Wayne County's Department of Building Inspections.
The largest construction cost was $188,880 for an upcoming residential home in Handley Acres subdivision in LaGrange. More than half of the permits were for houses and modular homes with an average construction cost of $110,419.
The lowest construction cost for a home was $6, 750 for the completion of a bonus room to be used for an office at Lane Tree Village No. 9 in Goldsboro.
Of the total permits issued, the lowest construction cost was $1,100 for a building in Seven Springs.
Construction costs for June 2005 are down from June 2004 by $455,958. A total of 90 building permits were issued that year, with 48 for residential homes.
Also down this year from 2004 is the number of building permits for nonresidential buildings. Eight permits were issued in 2005, while 18 permits were issued in 2004. Nonresidential buildings are buildings used for industrial, churches/religious, parking garages, hospitals/institutions, stores, offices and other professional buildings.
