Pizza man robbed
A pizza delivery man was robbed Thursday night of two pizzas, $80 and other property in the 100 block of Bright Street, Goldsboro police reported.
Daniel Cornelius Fleming, 41, of Goldsboro reported that he had stopped outside of a home at about 10:30 p.m., when three black men, wearing dark clothes, approached him. One had a shotgun and demanded that Fleming get down on the ground.
The suspects, all described as being about 18 years old, then stole Fleming's wallet with the cash, a cell phone, 15 compact discs, two pizzas and a Pizza Hut bag. The stolen property was valued at $718.
Two men injured
Two men were injured during the night, Goldsboro police said. One was stabbed and the other was shot accidentally in separate incidents.
Eric Lee Thompson, 33, of Goldsboro told officers that a black man came up behind him at about 2:30 a.m. today in the 1100 block of Olivia Lane and stabbed him numerous times with a pocket knife.
Thompson was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released, a spokeswoman said.
Julian Sauls, 19, of Goldsboro accidentally shot himself in the left leg at 10:50 p.m. Thursday at a home in the 200 block of North Jefferson Avenue, the report said.
Sauls told police that he had been shooting at a possum, thought he had put the safety on he rifle and tapped the gun against his left leg when the weapon fired. He was released after emergency-room treatment.
Sauls was charged with discharge of a weapon in the city.
Woman assaulted
A 30-year-old woman was assaulted Thursday by a man wearing a T-shirt that said "Support Your Local Fire Department," according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report.
Kimberly Dawn Radford of Duck Ridge Drive, Pikeville, told deputies that a white man came to her door, then grabbed her around the neck, pushed her head against a wall, causing her to pass out.
She was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said.
When Ms. Radford regained consciousness, she described the assailant as being 5-feet-7 and 160 pounds with short, light brown hair. He wore a red hat and blue jeans in addition to the shirt.
Ms. Radford said she recognized the shirt because her former boyfriend had one, the report said. No arrests have been made.
Break-in
A 31-year-old Goldsboro man was arrested Thursday by Goldsboro police and charged with two felony offenses in connection with a residential break-in.
Jerome Donald Ceasar, who did not disclose a home address, was accused of breaking into a home in the 600 block of Whitted Court and stealing property, Officer C.E. Irby said.
The resident, Marian Sutton, reported the theft of a DVD player, panty hose and a credit card, with a combined value of about $50. The property was recovered, but a barbecue grill, valued at $25, was still missing. The thief had inflicted about $300 in damages to two doors, the report said.
Ceasar was charged with breaking and entering, attempted larceny and resisting arrest. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $15,000 secured bond.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*A thief damaged a door at Doug Henry Buick at 709 E. Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway between Wednesday night and Thursday and stole several vehicle keys, police said. An employee then discovered that a silver 2004 Buick Rainier, valued at $36,000, also had been taken. A digital camera and three keyless entry remotes, valued at $600, also were stolen, the report said.
*Two Red Cat four-wheelers, one red and one blue, were stolen before dawn today after a padlock was cut and two windows shattered at Reborn Auto at 517 N. William St., police said. The four-wheelers were worth $3,000. Damage was set at $210. A Red Cat dirt bike also was stolen but was recovered, the report said.
Thefts
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*About $985 worth of property was stolen between Tuesday and Thursday from four disabled cars at U.S. Automotive at 459 Potts Road, deputies said. A compact disc player was stolen after a window in a 1987 Porsche was smashed; a compact disc player, a radio and a shifter knob were stolen from a 2000 Ford Mustang; a CD player was stolen from a 1985 Ford 150 truck, and a compact disc and cassette player was taken from a 1994 Jeep Cherokee. Damage was set at $250.
*An unlocked white, four-door 1993 Ford Escort, with the key left inside, was stolen between Thursday and dawn today from the 100 block of R&M Circle near Fremont, deputies said. The owner, Gloria A. Foust, said the car was worth $2,500.
Collision
Damages were estimated at $9,000 in a two-vehicle collision at 8:15 a.m. Saturday at U.S. 70 and Claridge Nursery Road, the Highway Patrol said.
The driver of a westbound tractor-trailer truck, Charles Barry Mooring, 36, of Pridgen Road, Snow Hill, was charged with failure to reduce speed. The big rig collided with a stopped pickup truck, driven by Jimmy Leo Humphrey Jr., 33, of New Bern.
Missing
A 17-year-old girl was reported missing Thursday by relatives to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Catherine Elizabeth Bennett of 302 Ruger Drive, Pikeville, was described as white, 5 feet 7 inches and 170 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
When she was seen last at 10 p.m. Wednesday, she was wearing a gray T-shirt and pajamas. Anyone with information on her location was asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 731-1481.
Correction
Information about a collision involving Donald Thomas Heffner in Sunday's paper was wrong. Heffner's Jeep was struck by a tractor-trailer truck, not a panel truck.
