WCC, Wachovia join East Carolina in offering teaching degree program

The College of Education at East Carolina University will begin this fall offering teaching degrees in elementary education, special education and middle grades education through an agreement with Wachovia and Wayne Community College.
The degree programs come in response to calls for more teachers. Classes will begin August 2005 for elementary majors; January 2006 for special education majors; and May 2006 for middle grades math and science education majors.
Applications for all three programs are available by email: gradyde@waynecc.edu.
Wachovia Partnership East is designed to allow students to complete their general education coursework at one of the partnering community colleges and then transfer into the East Carolina program to complete the junior and senior years of the teaching degree. Classes will be taught by East Carolina faculty at Wayne Community College and through the Internet.

Applications may be picked up at the Wayne Community College office or emailed to applicants. Applications are due by Oct. 1 for special education majors; Feb. 1 for middle grade majors; and Feb. 15 for elementary majors.
The Wachovia Partnership East South Central Consortium serves students from James Sprunt Community College, Lenoir Community College, Johnston Community College, Sampson Community College, Wayne Community College, and Seymour Johnston Air Force Base; as well as the local school systems in Greene, Duplin, Lenoir, Johnston, Sampson and Wayne Counties.
