July 4th closings

The Goldsboro News-Argus will be closed on Monday, July 4, and will not publish a paper.

The News-Argus traditionally does not publish on the Fourth of July and Christmas Day.

City and county offices will also be closed Monday, July 4, for the Independence Day holiday. This will include the county landfill and its convenience centers.

City garbage pickups that are normally done on Monday will be collected on Wednesday, July 6.

Waste Management, which collects garbage in the county, will also do Monday pickups on Wednesday.

The Goldsboro City Council has postponed its normal meeting to Tuesday night, beginning at 7 p.m. at Goldsboro City Hall, Center Street.

The Wayne County Board of Education will hold its normal monthly meeting on Monday, July 11, beginning at 4 p.m. at the school administration building on Royall Avenue.

The Town of Pikeville offices will be closed on Monday, and garbage picked up on Monday will be picked up on Thursday. Yard trash will be picked up on Wednesday.

Cliffs programs

Cliffs of the Neuse State Park will offer the following free programs this weekend:

*Papermaking, Saturday, 11 a.m., lake bathhouse;

*Animal Signs and Tracks, Saturday, 2 p.m., lake bathhouse;

*Beaver Trails, Sunday, 1:30 p.m., lake bathhouse.
