MOUNT OLIVE -- No fireworks will be displayed at the Mount Olive Airport this July 4, but the Mount Olive Exchange Club has planned a big day in Westbrook Park off North Breazeale Avenue.
Highlights include a children's parade, music, children's games and food. Children are asked to decorate their bikes and wagons with a patriotic theme for the parade, which will be held on the walking trail in the park, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
The program begins at 5 p.m., and Dr. Alan Armstrong, chairman of the music department at Mount Olive College, will play the bagpipes. Other music will be provided by Hampton Lee, the Sinai Group and the Harmony Boys.
Young and old will play Bingo. Prizes will go to the youngest and oldest attending the event.
