KENANSVILLE -- The AARP Driver Safety Program, a classroom driver refresher course for drivers over 50, will be held on July 20 and 21 at the Duplin County Senior Center.

Class begins at 9 a.m. and continues until 11 a.m. for a break. Class resumes at 1 p.m. and continues until 3 p.m.

The course explains the changes that occur in vision, hearing and reaction time as we age, and it provides useful driving safety tips for handling these changes. Several major auto insurance carriers in North Carolina offer discounts to graduates of the program. For example, AARP's auto insurance underwritten by the Hartford provides a 10 percent discount for a period of three years after taking the course. Interested persons should contact their carrier to see if such a discount is available.

For information about the class contact Melisa S. Brown at 910-296-2140. There is a cost of $10 for the class. Deadline for registration is Tuesday, July 5.
