Summer school to start next week in Wayne

Summer school classes start next week for students in the Wayne County Public Schools.
Students in grades 3, 5 and 8 who scored at a level 1 or 2 on the end-of-grade tests in reading or math are eligible to take advantage of the summer school sessions.
Individual subject courses are also being offered for high school students.
There will be five sites for classes, four of them for high school students.
Elementary and middle school students who need the remedial help can attend sessions that will be held at Dillard Middle School on weekdays from 9 a.m. until noon, June 6-24.
Sessions for students in grades 9-12 will be offered at four locations across the county.
Each high school session runs from June 6-17, except at Southern Wayne High School, where the summer session will be held June 6-24.
Information about each schedule is as follows:
*Goldsboro High School, 8:30-11:45 a.m., serving students from that school, with classes in Algebra I and II, geometry, English I and IV, biology, physical science, civics and economics, and U.S. history.
*Eastern Wayne High, 8:30-11:30 a.m., serving students from that school, with classes in Algebra I and II, geometry, earth environmental science, biology, physical science, English I, II, III, and IV, world history, world geography, civics and economics, and U.S. history.
*Charles B. Aycock High, 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 12-3 p.m., serving students from that school.
Morning subjects offered include English I, III, and IV, geometry, biology, and physical science.
There will be afternoon classes in English I, algebra I, U.S. history, civics and economics.
*Southern Wayne High School, for students from that school as well as Spring Creek and Rosewood high schools, 8-11 a.m.
Class offerings include Algebra I and II, geometry, earth environmental science, biology, physical science, English I, II, III, and IV, civics and economics, and U.S. history.
