Salvation Army change announced
Captain John Leidy of the Goldsboro Salvation Army will assume the responsibilities of the Cleveland and Rutherford counties Salvation Army programs beginning in late July.
He will be leaving Goldsboro at the end of June, and Majors Andrew and Hazel Wiley will take over as the new officers for Goldsboro. The Wileys are currently stationed in Rocky Mount.
Road repaving
Contractors for the state Department of Transportation are alerting Goldsboro residents that repaving work will be done on Central Heights Road next week and that they might want to take alternate routes until the work is completed.
Work will start Monday on the part of the road between Berkeley Boulevard and New Hope Road and should take about two days, officials said. The second phase of the project covers the remaining stretch of the road, from New Hope Road to U.S. 13.
Wayne Museum expands its hours
The Wayne County Museum is expanding its hours. The museum, which is located at 116 N. William St., is now open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1-5 p.m.
Bloodmobile
The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold a blood drive Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lowe's. Donors will receive a coupon for a free car wash.
