Drug charges

As a result of an investigation conducted by the Goldsboro Wayne County Drug Squad, a marijuana plant with an estimated street value of $12,000 was located growing in a planter at 201 N. George St. Investigation into the ownership of the plant continues.

Jonathan Newkirk, 39, of Goldsboro was arrrested and charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to sell or deliver, and selling and delivering marijuana. He was placed under a $5,000 secured bond.

Crime Stoppers assisted in the investigations.

Investigations

Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:

*Allena Wynn, 21, of Fairview Circle, reported a former boyfriend hid in her closet and attacked her. Ms. Wynn told officers she was struck with a closed fist and choked. A warrant was issued for William Hagans, 22, of Hopkins St.

*Randy Daughtry of Batesville Logistics Inc. reported an unknown suspect threw a brick through the windshield of a company vehicle. Damage was set at $500

*Cathy Underwood, 25, of S. Slocumb St. reported a known black man offered her a ride at Kornegay St. to her home, but proceeded to S. John St. The victim told the suspect he was going the wrong way, and he pulled a knife on her, continuing into the county by way of Arrington Bridge Rd. Emergency Medical Services responded and transported the victim to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment.
