DISABILITY WALK
The annual Hal Plonk Disability Awareness Walk, sponsored by the Mayor's Committee on Persons with Disabilities, will be held May 11, starting at 10 a.m. The five-block walk, sponsored by the Mayor's Committee on Persons with Disabilities, will start at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Registration begins at 9:45 a.m. The Goldsboro Middle School Band will perform during the walk and refreshments will be served. People interested in participating should register by May 4 by calling 731-4315.
WOOFF
WOOFF, Welfare of Our Furry Friends, is having a yard sale on May 13, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and May 14, 7 a.m. until, at 223 Westwood Dr., Goldsboro, about 1/4 mile past Hardee's on Hwy. 70W. GENEALOGY CLASS
The Old Dobbs County Genealogical Society and the Wayne County Public Library will sponsor a free class in how to use the online subscription database of genealogical information, HeritageQuest, on Saturday at the Wade Edwards Learning Lab at Goldsboro High School. The lab is located at the corner of Argo and Dortch streets on the GHS campus. The class will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Registration is required. AMERICAN LEGION
The American Legion Auxiliary will serve a salmon dinner for members and their guests on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Post Home on U.S. 117 South.
VETERANS COALITION
The Wayne County Veterans and Patriots Coalition will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. at the County Administration Building. This
will be the final planning meet-ing for the Memorial Day ceremony.
MS RESEARCH UPDATE

Norwayne Middle School Awards Ceremony will be held Monday, May 23. The schedule is as follows: 6th grade - 8:30 a.m.; 7th grade- 10:15 a.m.; and 8th grade - 1:30 p.m.

A hospice care seminar will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church, 252 O'Berry Road, Dudley.
RETIRED MILITARY
Congressman G.K. Butterfield will not speak at the meeting of The Alliance of Retired Military on Monday at 7 p.m. at Wayne Community College as had previously been announced.
SUNRISE KIWANIS
The Sunrise Kiwanis Club will join other Kiwanis clubs for the annual prayer breakfast on Wednesday morning at 7 at the Crossroads Cafe.
EXPO PERFORMER
Among the performers participating in Saturday's Expo 2005 was Rose Allen, who recited her original poem, "Looking Through My Grandmother's Eyes." Ms. Allen is an award-winning poet and songwriter who has been writing for the past 15 years. A Goldsboro native, she lived in New Jersey for about 15 years and then returned home.
