Mount Olive college honors several residents

Several Wayne County residents were honored during Mount Olive College's annual awards day.
*Ashley Aanenson of Goldsboro received the Henderson Science Club award for the most promising science student. A sophomore biology major, she is married to Frank Aanenson and is the daughter of Nancy Thomas.
*Tyler Barwick of Mount Olive received the 2005 citation for outstanding student of the year in art, given to the student who excelled academically and demonstrated outstanding service to the art department. A sophomore fine arts major, she is the daughter of Ken and Debra Barwick.
*Joshua Carter of Wayne County received the Recreation and Leisure Studies most outstanding major award, a scholarship and plaque awarded for academic excellence and service. A senior exercise science major, he is the son of William Carter and Elizabeth Cox.
*Joan Goulet of Goldsboro received the 2005 citation for outstanding student of the year in foreign language, given to the senior who excelled academically and demonstrated service to the department. A visual communication major, she is married to DuWayne Goulet.
*Kallen King of Wayne County received the Handy Mart business scholarship, given to a rising junior majoring in business administration for excellence in academics, college and community service, as well as civic responsibility. A business management major, she is the daughter of Allen and Kay Holmes, the mother of two sons and has two grandchildren.
*David Marquez of Goldsboro, a junior biology major, received the 2005 Lorelle F. Martin science award, a scholarship given to an outstanding returning science major. His parents are Maigualida Vivas and Edecio Marquez.
*Johnna Nelson of Goldsboro received the Charles B. and Margenette A. Hinnant Music Scholarship, presented to a music major who exhibits exceptional talent. The daughter of Shirley Garrison and Edward Hess is married to Lars Nelson.
*Jacob Paugh of Goldsboro received the Henderson Science Club awards for best research by a senior and contributions to the Department of Science and Mathematics. A senior biology major, his parents are Ronald and Brenda Paugh.
*Marcy Paul of Goldsboro received the Claude Hunter Moore award, a scholarship given to a returning history major selected for showing promise in the field. Married to David Paul, she is a wife, mother and full-time employee who attends the college satellite campus at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
*Michael Brandon Robbins of Goldsboro was presented the 2005 citation for outstanding student of the year in literature. A senior English major, he is the son of Darlene Robbins.
*Ginny Walston of Goldsboro received the M.L. Johnson business award, a scholarship given to a rising senior who demonstrates promise in the field of business. Walston, a junior business management major, is the daughter of David and Susan Walston.
*Sallie Warren of Mount Olive, a junior education major, received the Prospective Teachers Association award, given for leadership and active involvement in the PTA. She is the daughter of Clark Strickland and the late Scottie Grantham.
*Hillary Williams of Goldsboro received the Braswell Award, given to a teacher education major for academic excellence, professional service and personal growth. A junior education major, her parents are Jack and Lisa Williams.
*Rebecca Whitley of Mount Olive was awarded the senior citizenship cup, presented to a graduating senior for demonstrating outstanding qualities throughout the academic career at the college. A senior business management major, she is the daughter of Randy and Sharon Whitley. She is also a Handy Mart scholarship recipient and an Honors Scholarship recipient and works as human resources assistant for Piggly Wiggly in Mount Olive.
