City cleanup ends Friday

The city of Goldsboro's annual spring cleanup ends Friday but residents can still call the city Sanitation Division to have items picked up for disposal. They may call 739-7414 or 739-7450 Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
There will be a $5 fee for collection of up to three items or $10 for up to six items. No more than six items will be collected from the same address per week. A $25 fine will be assessed to those residents placing discarded furniture, appliances, mattresses and other bulky items at the curb without making prior arrangements with the Santitation Division.
Materials that will not be accepted include: dirt, turf, rock, building materials, carpet, wallpaper, wet paint, metal posts, swing sets, plastic swimming pools, gasoline or kerosen cans, brick, concrete, metal, shingles, fencing materials, logs, tree stumps, auto parts, animal waste and hazardous materials.
