Estimated quarterly taxes may be filed online

People who need to file quarterly estimated income taxes with the N.C. Department of Revenue can now do so through its website, www.dornc.com.
Taxpayers can pay their taxes by credit or debit card (MasterCard or Visa) or by bank draft. They will receive an acknowledgement that payments have been received.
The website uses an encryption code to ensure information is safe, a department spokesman said in a release. The online service is designed to be convenient, simple and accurate.
Generally, only taxpayers whose state income tax liability was at least $1,000 are required to make quarterly estimated tax payments.
