A truck driver has been charged with failure to stop for a stop sign and careless and reckless driving after his tractor-trailer collided with a car driven by a woman Thursday night near Seven Springs.
Brandon Eric White, 24, of Kenansville, was charged by the state Highway Patrol after the wreck at the intersection of N.C. 55 and N.C. 903.
Ashley Renee Adams, 20, remained in serious condition today at Pitt Memorial Hospital.
The truck was owned by JK Trucking Co. of Kenansville.
Witnesses said the truck ran over the top of Ms. Adams' vehicle, crushing it. She was taken by helicopter to Pitt Memorial after rescuers worked for half an hour to free her from the wreckage.
