Woman shot
A woman was accidentally shot Sunday night as a man cleaned a .32 caliber handgun in Eureka, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report.
Tanica Grays, 24, was wounded in her home on Baker Street. She was rushed by ambulance to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where she was treated for a leg wound and released.
Tony Orlando Edwards, 30, of Fremont said he pulled the weapon from his pocket and told Ms. Grays he was going to return it to his mother. As he took it from his pocket, the weapon discharged, the report said.
Man robbed
A man said he was robbed early Sunday by two black men, one armed with a shotgun, at South Slocumb Street and West Seymour Drive, Goldsboro police reported.
James Ruffin, 20, of Goldsboro told officers the suspects approached his truck at about 12:10 a.m., displayed a weapon and demanded his money. They took $200 and a cell phone, valued at $50.
The gunman was described as 5-feet-7 and 160 pounds with a skinny build and short black hair. He wore a black hat, a black jacket and a black shirt and pants.
Car fire
A 1994 car was destroyed between Sunday night and dawn today in a fire at Dollard Town and St. John Church roads, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office reported.
The owner, Ruby R. Tune of Goldsboro, told deputies she left the disabled car at about 9 p.m. Seven Springs volunteer firefighters were dispatched to the fire and found the car engulfed in flames.
A stereo system and a pair of speakers, valued at $350, had been stolen, deputies said. The Mitsubishi Galant was valued at $9,000.
Two injured
Two people were injured and damages were estimated at $25,200 in four recent traffic collisions in Goldsboro, police reported.
*Damage was estimated at $9,300 in a one-car wreck at 1:35 a.m. at South Jefferson Avenue and East Elm Street, police said. The driver, Aaron Paul Pelloat, 25, of North Jackson Street, was charged with driving while impaired, reckless driving, an expired registration and a stop-sign violation. The report said Pelloat's southbound car went through the stop sign, struck the curb and a utility pole, skidded across a lawn and stopped near a home.
*An eastbound driver was injured and damages were set at $7,000 in a two-car collision at 1:30 p.m. Friday at East Elm and Crawford streets, police said. Albert Lee Williams III, 25, of Rollingwood Drive, Dudley, left Wayne Memorial Hospital against medical advice, a spokeswoman said. A northbound motorist, Lee Marcus Morgan, 27, of Forest Drive, was charged with a stop-sign violation. After the collision, Williams' car hit a fire hydrant.
*A southbound driver was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 5:40 p.m. Friday at North James and West Ash streets, police said. Carolyn Frances Phifer, 31, of Claridge Nursery Road was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. An eastbound driver, Margie Anne Comanda, 27, of Kennett Square, Pa., was charged with a stoplight violation. Damages were estimated at $1,400.
*Damages were estimated at $7,500 in a three-vehicle collision at 4:57 p.m. Friday at Cashwell and East Gate drives, police said. One driver who was making a left turn to Cashwell Drive, Jerry Lee Madison, 77, of Central Heights Road, was charged with a safe-movement violation. The report said Madison's car collided with westbound auto driven by Bernard Wright, 39, of Grove Drive and then the impact sent Wright's car into a southbound sport utility vehicle driven by Lakeisha Lynn Smith, 27, of Rollingwood Drive, Dudley.
Investigations
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*A watch, a DVD player, a stereo system, a wallet and a bank bag were stolen Saturday after a vehicle window and door were damaged in the 2600 block of North Park Drive, Goldsboro police said. The driver, Monte Todd Westbrook of Pikeville, estimated the value of the stolen property at $1,260 and damage at $300.
*Tools and $110 were stolen Sunday after a vehicle window was smashed in the 100 block of South Berkeley Boulevard, police said. The owner, Pamela V. Jones of Goldsboro, estimated the tools' value at $800 and damage at $100. A passenger, Anita T. Thomas of Goldsboro, reported the theft of a purse with a $211 paycheck and personal papers. The purse and other items were valued at $30.
*A rifle and a DVD player were stolen Friday after a door was pried open at an apartment in the 1800 block of Saxon Street, police said. The resident, Joseph N. Hedin, put a $1,000 value on the stolen property.
*An air-conditioner was stolen between Thursday and Friday from a mobile home in the 100 block of Peacock Street near Fremont, sheriff's deputies said. The owner, Sergio Vasquez Hernandez of Fremont, put a $1,800 value on the unit.
Drug charges
Two men were arrested Saturday by Goldsboro police and charged with felony drug offenses.
*Larry Lamont Parker, 22, of Stantonsburg was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession of cocaine. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
*Gregory Leon White, 41, of LaGrange Road, LaGrange, was charged with possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed in lieu of a $2,500 secured bond.
Fraud charge
A 29-year-old Mount Olive man was arrested Friday by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with obtaining property by false pretense.
Russell Edward Odell Jr. of East Pollock Street was accused of cashing a payroll check at Grantham Supply and then placing a stop payment on the check, Detective Sgt. Rick Farfour said. Odell was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
