Bloodmobile

The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold a blood drive Thursday from 2 to 6:30 p.m. at the chapter house, 600 N. George St., by appointment only by calling 735-7201. Donors will receive a coupon for a free car wash.

Showtime

on Thursday

The News-Argus television guide, TV Showtime, will be included in Thursday's newspaper this week. Showtime is usually included in Friday's paper.

Showtime is being moved because of the large size of Friday's paper, the annual Focus edition.

Precinct meetings

Because of the Paramount fire, Wayne County Republican precinct organizational meetings were not held Monday night and have been rescheduled for March 1 at the Republican headquarters.

Precinct 7, New Hope fire station, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Precinct 22, Greenwood Middle School, will meet at 7 p.m. and Precinct 25, Mount Olive Civic Center, will meet at 7:30 p.m.

Nothing to Wayne

A telemarketing firm has been calling Wayne County residents soliciting donations on behalf of the N.C. Narcotics Officers Association.

Wayne County Sheriff Carey Winders said a telemarketing spokesman told him that the money is being used to benefit the families of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

The sheriff said none of the money is coming to Wayne County. And Winders said the telemarketing spokesman indicated that 82 percent of the money is going to pay telemarketing company.
