MOUNT OLIVE -- The bride will wear red and white on Valentine's Day.
Nancy Mauney will play the bride and Barry Giddings will play the groom in a mock wedding at 3 p.m. on Monday in the dining room of Glencare of Mount Olive Assisted Living on Smith Chapel Road. A reception will follow.
A pantry shower was held Thursday afternoon in the dining room, with about 20 of the residents. White table clothes adorned the tables with silk foloral center pieces and red, white and blue cloth napkins. Gifts of food brought by staff members were donated to Lula Newkirk of the Helping Hands Food Bank in Mount Olive.
The wedding director, Crystal Quinn, is the activity director at the home. She has been there four years, through its changes from Mount Olive Retirement Village to Meadows to Glencare.
She said the idea of a pantry shower came from her sister's bridal shower. She said her sister had everything she needed for the house, but she'd love to receive pantry foods.
