CALYPSO -- The town is adding two new streets.
One is a dirt road and one is a paved road that had not been kept up by the state.
The streets will be Calypso Trailer Court Lane and about 300 feet of the Second Street Extension, which runs from the old Methodist Church on Trade Street to Edwina Kornegay Road.
The town is having sewer lines run down the streets now, and Mayor Tom Reaves says he expects that job to be finished by the end of March. Then comes the paving, which he expects to be finished by the end of May.
The new streets can't be added to the list of streets receiving Powell Bill money for upkeep and repairs. Reaves says the $8,000 expected cost is in the general fund line item designated for street work.
