Accidents
Five property damage accidents were investigated by police, with no injuries requiring transport to the hospital.
*At 1:50 p.m. on Friday, a vehicle driven by Rex Allen Williams, 43, Durham Lake Road, Dudley, was damaged after a one-car accident that originated on Central Heights Road. When Williams made a right turn onto Hunters Drive, his vehicle reportedly rolled over onto its left side and top. EMS responded but Williams refused services. His car was towed and he was charged with a safe movement violation.
*Police discovered an unoccupied vehicle on John Street at 1:45 p.m. Friday. It reportedly left the roadway near Terrace Court and ran into a ditch. Upon investigation, it was found to be stolen out of Washington, D.C.
*Brian Allen Wolford, 20, McLain Street, was charged with failure to reduce speed after his car collided with a vehicle driven by Miguel Alberto Beylan, 60, North Audubon Avenue. The collision occurred Saturday morning at 10. Beylan's car received $700 worth of damage and Wolford's vehicle damage was estimated at $300.
*At 12:30 p.m. Friday, Marlene Outlaw Isler, 66, Whitfield Drive, attempted to change lanes on East Ash Street near Center Street, and struck another vehicle driven by Paterna J. Petera, 56, Runnel Place. Ms. Isler was charged with making an improper lane change. Her vehicle received $300 worth of damage, with another $900 in damage estimated to Patera's car.
*On Royall Avenue at 3:27 p.m. Friday, Donald Dan Minnish, 63, Gainey Drive, was traveling west when his vehicle was struck by a car driven by Dalynoa Rae Baker, 20, East Beech Street. Baker was charged with failure to see before starting; the car received $3,000 in damage. Minnish's car received $7,000 worth of damage.
Investigations
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*A vehicle was reported stolen from Oliver's Body Shop in Mount Olive Friday night. William Bedford told officers the vehicle, owned by Berta Mae Dudley of Durham Lake Road in Dudley, had been left at his business for repairs and the keys were inside when it was taken. The 2000 Chrysler is worth $9,000.
*In the area of 100 Emmaus Church Road, a vehicle that had been parked at a residence for several months, was reportedly stolen sometime overnight Friday. Damie Lynn Perkins of River Bend Road said someone had entered the residence and taken the keys to the 1999 Honda Civic, as well as a Playstation and games and 15 DVDs.
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*A fire hydrant was turned off Friday at 6:30 p.m. after a Goldsboro fireman was flagged down at William and Industry Court and told the hydrant was leaking. Gilbert Hare of Goldsboro Fire Department found the hydrant had sustained considerable damage and was able to stop the flow of water to prevent further leakage.
*Tammy Meades, employed by Subway on North Spence Avenue, said while closing the business at 11:39 p.m. Friday, the register was short by $197.75.
*On the 900 block of E. Mulberry Street, Bryan Marcoux reported the front door to a residence had been forcibly opened Friday afternoon. A gas heater was taken and kitchen and bathroom floor coverings had been pulled up, with a hole cut in the kitchen floor. A water heater had also been placed in a hallway at the home. Damage was estimated at $3,600.
