Trivia contest
The News-Argus is once again holding a trivia contest in connection with Wayne County Reads. Answers can be found in Daniel Wallace's "Big Fish," this year's selection for the countywide reading program.
Winners will be drawn from all correct entries and will receive an autographed copy of the novel or a DVD of its movie adaptation.
This week's question: What was the name of the giant who terrorized the town of Ashland?
Drop off answers, along with name, address and phone number, at the News-Argus office, 310 N. Berkeley Blvd., by noon Friday. Or send emails to mshaw@newsargus.com.
Miss Daffodil Pageant
Applications for the 2005 Miss Daffodil Pageant are available from Fremont Pharmacy and The Heritage Bank offices in Fremont and Pikeville.
The deadline for submitting applications is March 4. The pageant will be held March 13. Contestants must be between 16 and 19 years old and live in the Charles B. Aycock High School district.
The pageant coordinator, Abby Poole, has more information at 242-3734.
Huffman reception
A floating reception for new Goldsboro City Manager Joe Huffman will be held on Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the atrium at Wayne Community College. Mayor Al King and the City Council are hosting the reception.
