Amirian honored by Main Street organization

Jack Amirian, owner of Amirian's Fine Art & Framing, was honored recently as a "N.C. Main Street Champion" for his efforts to revitalize downtown Goldsboro.
Amirian was recognized during the annual North Carolina Main Street Conference, held Jan. 26-28 in New Bern.
Amirian was chosen for "his perservance, determination, involvement and solid main street business sense," according to the nomination form. He has built his own successful business, developing a reputation as a refined and talented customer framer.
He also served on the Downtown Goldsboro Development Corporation board for 10 years and continues to support DGDC activities.
Amirian was among a large local contigent to attend the conference. Others included Mayor Al King, City Manager Joe Huffman, City Councilman Jimmy Bryan, Dr. Martha Cawley of N.C. Wesleyan College, DGDC promotions coordinator Sherry Archibald and DGDC board members Sally Worrell and Martha Bryan.
Also at the conference, the downtown organization's annual sponsorship campaign was named best-funding raising effort. And the renovation of Wesleyan's building, the former Wachovia Building, was chosen Best Adaptive Re-use Project.
Those awards were announced in early January.
The DGDC staff gave a presentation during the conference. "Promotions 101 -- Goldsboro's Theory and Application" focused on the agency's marketing and events.
More than 300 people attended the conference, which marked the 25th anniversary of New Bern's national recognition as a Main Street City.
