Snow is possible in Wayne County Thursday and into early Friday, but accumulations are expected to be limited because of rain mixing in with anything that does fall.

Still, motorists are advised to be cautious and listen for the latest weather updates for changes.

This morning, the National Weather Service in Raleigh called for rain or freezing rain early Thursday morning.

An occasional rain-snow mix is expected Thursday afternoon and into the evening. Rain and snow are likely after midnight and possibly early Friday morning.

The result is little to no accumulation in Wayne and Duplin counties. Snow amounts could be heavier to the west and north of Interstate 95 and travel there could be treacherous.

Temperatures locally for the period will range from a low in the mid 30s tonight to around 40 Thursday. The mercury will fall into the lower 30s Thursday night before rebounding to 50 on Friday.

The weekend still looks warm with sunny skies and highs near 60 with lows hovering around the mid 30s.

Meteorologists say they are comfortable with the forecast but not 100 percent confident.
