A Wayne County sheriff's deputy has been suspended for two weeks after a case of mistaken identity involving a Dudley woman.
When Lee Davis returns to work, he will be assigned to the courtroom as a bailiff, Sheriff's Department officials said.
Davis was serving a warrant last weekend and saw a car that was similar to the suspect's in a yard on Brentwood Drive. But the woman who lived at the house said she not know the man Davis was looking for and told him that the car belonged to someone else.
She said she was frightened by Davis's actions and demeanor and called 911 for assistance. After Davis left another Sheriff's Department officer arrived to reassure her, the woman said.
