Goldsboro will celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday today with a special play, and on Monday with an annual breakfast.
The holiday celebration will start with the Kuumba Ensemble's "The Rumble in My Voice Production" at the Paramount Theater today at 2 p.m.
On Monday, the annual breakfast will be held at 9 a.m. at the H.V. Brown Hall at 801 Poplar St. There is a $10 cost for each event.
Kuumba Ensemble is part of the African American Theatrical Company of Baltimore, Md.
The original musical and dramatic production pays tribute to 12 black women --from Rosa Parks to Shirley Chisholm -- who served the civil rights movement of the 1960s.
The third Monday in January of each year has been set aside by the state, federal and some local governments as a legal holiday to honor the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Performing at the breakfast will be Wayne County middle school students and the Cultural Movement Dancers.
