Miss Eastern Wayne Pageant Friday

The Paramount Theater will be the setting Friday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m. as 10 women compete for the title of "Miss Eastern Wayne High School 2005."
The theme of the 12th annual scholarship pageant is "Carolina Girls." Sponsored by the school's Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America Club, more than $3,000 in scholarship money will be awarded to the top three contestants.
Special guests for the evening will include Kandis Weeks, Miss Goldsboro, and the reigning Miss Eastern Wayne, Rochelle Rice. The master of ceremonies for the evening will be Mrs. Michelle Braxton.
Jalesa Atkinson, 16, will perform a saxophone solo of "Charlene" made popular by Anthony Hamilton. The daughter of Terry and Angelene Atkinson, she plans to attend the University of North Carolina to major in dentistry.
Helen Baddour, 16, will perform a lyrical ballet to "Beautiful" by Bethany Dylan. She is the daughter of Phil and Margaret Baddour and plans to attend a four-year university to major in sports broadcast journalism.
Allison Bronner, 17, will perform a tap routine to "Gettin' in the Mood" by CPD. The daughter of Deborah and Conrad Bronner, she plans to attend Liberty University to become a registered nurse.
Caitlin Emerson, 16, will perform a lyrical dance to "Come as You Are" by Patti Labelle. She is the daughter of Scott and Sonja Emerson and plans to attend a four-year university.
Brittany Ham, 17, will sing "Unchained Melody" made popular by The Righteous Brothers. She is the daughter of Jay and Ann Ham and plans to attend college and major in business administration.
Joy Kelly, 16, will perform a lyrical dance to "Summertime" by Fantasia. She is the daughter of Milas and Cynthia Kelly and plans to further her education and study law.
Jessica McCullen, 17, will perform a jazz dance to "The Way You Make Me Feel" by Michael Jackson. She is the daughter of Ken and Sheila McCullen and plans to attend East Carolina University to major in nursing.
Dominique Moore, 16, will sing "Because You Love Me" made popular by Celine Dion. She is the daughter of Christopher and Lena Tapscott and plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to study journalism and social work.
Ashley Gray Smith, 18, will sing "Walkin' after Midnight" made popular by Patsy Cline. She is the daughter of Bobby and Angie Smith and plans to attend a four-year university to study religion.
Courtney Smith, 18, will sing "Dangerously in Love" made popular by Destiny's Child. She is the daughter of Miriam Y. Smith and the late Lamar Ross. She plans to attend a college and major in math or engineering.
