Six airmen honored

The local Kitty Hawk Flight of the Order of Daedalians bestowed honors upon six airmen from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

The Daedalians is an organization for military aviators from all branches of service.

This year's winners from the 4th Fighter Wing are as follows:

*Maj. Brian Moles from the 334th Fighter Squadron -- Instructor Pilot of the Year.

*Capt. Matthew Trumble from the 333rd Fighter Squadron -- Instructor Weapon Systems Operator of the Year.

*Capt. John Orchard from the 336th Fighter Squadron -- Combat Pilot of the Year.

*Capt. Brian Afflerbaugh of the 336th Fighter Squadron -- Combat Weapon Systems Operator of the Year.

Award winners from the 916th Air Refueling Wing are as follows:

*1st Lt. William Tatum of the 77th Air Refueling Squadron -- Air Refueling Wing Pilot of the Year.

*Master Sgt. Kenneth Fallin of the 77th Air Refueling Squadron -- Air Refueling Wing Boom Operator of the Year.

The award winners were selected by their wing operation group commanders based on nominations submitted by their supervisors.

Rural trash schedule

Waste Industries has released its holiday collection schedule for Wayne County residents.

Friday residential customers will have their trash picked up on Thursday, Dec. 23, and Thursday, Dec. 30.
