Home Health and Hospice Care Inc. has appointed Nicholas "Dean" Lee as its president.

Lee will be responsible for overseeing the management of 3HC, which includes the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

Lee has nearly 20 years of leadership experience and has served as a governance board member for 3HC since 1998 and chairman of its finance committee since 2002.

Jean Lee, who has served as interim director during the search, called Dean Lee a good choice for the role, having seen him in action as a board member.

"He's a breath of fresh air," she said during a reception for Lee on Thursday night.

Most recently, Dean Lee was quality director of Guilford Mills in Kenansville. He was responsible for quality performance and customer relations.

Originally from Duplin County, Lee, 43, now lives in Mount Olive with his wife, Beverly. The couple have three children.

He earned his bachelor's degree in textile management from N.C. State University in 1984. He has served on several community boards including Duplin County Board of Health, Duplin General Hospital Foundation, Boy Scouts of America, Tuscarora Council, and Woodland United Methodist Church.

Lee said he holds a strong belief that everyone deserves access to high quality health care in a caring environment.

"I have been blessed with a loving, compassionate family that cared for my grandfather in his last years," he said. "I realize that not everyone may have a family or support system of care like my own.

"I believe everyone deserves that opportunity."
