The STS Foundation is seeking host families in northern Duplin County for a foreign exchange student.
The foundation, based in Scottsdale, Ariz., has students who hope to attend North Duplin High School beginning in January.
One of the students is Layling Stanbury, a 17-year-old girl who lives in Christchurch, New Zealand, with her parents, her older sister, a cat, a possum, three turtles, a fish, a rat and a pet lamb. She has played the violin since she was 4 and sings in the church choir.
She likes to run to mass every Sunday, which helps keep her fit. She wants to become an exchange student because she wants to learn another culture. She feels this will help her learn more about herself and grow as a person.
David Keating of the STS Foundation says the students will bring their own spending money and insurance.
Host families are needed in all cities in North Carolina. For information contact the STS Foundation, call David Keating at 1-800-522-4678 or visit the Web site at www.stsfoundation.org.
