Passenger in serious condition

LaGRANGE -- Beatrice Bryant of Herbert Street in Goldsboro was listed in serious condition this morning at Pitt Memorial Hospital, recuperating from injuries from a car crash Friday that took the life of one woman.
Florence White of Marvin Street, a passenger in one of the cars, died in the crash on U.S. 70 east at the intersection of Willie Measley Road.
Ms. Bryant was a passenger in the same car, a 2004 Ford Focus, which was driven by Jean Cherry Brown of Walnut Street.
Ms. Brown was listed Monday as discharged from the hospital. Another passenger in the same car, Barbara Isler of Harris Street, was not listed in the hospital directory.
The crash involved four vehicles and 12 people, eight of them from Goldsboro, on Friday afternoon.
Trooper M.S. Turner investigated the crash. Ms. Brown was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and failure to yield the right of way.
The women had left the Sandpiper Restaurant and were going east on U.S. 70. The report said they were making a U-turn to head back to Goldsboro. But the car turned into the path of a 1994 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Jimmy Butts of Old Grantham Road.
He was driving west on U.S. 70, pulling a bass boat, with his family, his son, David, his daughter-in-law, Brandi, and their daughter, Braylee.
The Surburban struck the Ford on the right passenger side. Both vehicles slid into two other cars that were waiting on the flea market side of Willie Measley Road.
In the third car, a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu, were the driver, Kelly Davis of Kinston, and passengers, Chuck Burns of Kinston, and 5-year-old Jonathan Stanley of Kinston.
Annette Patrick of Kinston was in the fourth car, a 1998 Ford Explorer.
