Wayne Memorial Hospital has received two gold awards and one silver award for its efforts to promote the hospital in the community.
The "Wallie Awards" were presented during the Carolinas Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing Society's annual conference in Charleston, S.C., last week. More than 200 advertising entries from North Carolina and South Carolina hospitals were in the judging.
PostScript, Wayne Memorial's community newsletter, received a gold award in the external newsletter category. Judges described the publication as "a highly attractive, compelling piece with clear focus on patient education while communicating the hospital's strengths."
PostScript appears quarterly in the Goldsboro News-Argus as an insert. It was introduced by the hospital two years ago.
"We are excited about this award because PostScript is such an important part of how we stay connected to our community," said Amy Cain, the hospital's director of public relations.
She said the award is also a credit to the hospital's advertising agency, Atlas Communications of Aiken, S.C.
The other gold award was for the hospital's radio campaign, "House Calls," which provides information about general health and the hospital in 30- and 60-second advertisements. Topics ranged from eating healthy to the importance of local health care.
The silver award was given to the hospital's series of newspaper ads featuring a postcard design with testimonials from doctors, nurses and patients.
