WCC art for exhibit due this week

Artwork for consideration in the 2005 N.C. Community College Art Exhibit is due this week.
Wayne Community College alumni, students, faculty and staff are invited to submit entries by 5 p.m. Wednesday. Work is being sought from all 59 schools in the community college system, with selected pieces to be on exhibit in the state office in Raleigh throughout 2005.
Current and former students in curriculum and continuing education classes, graduates and employees are eligible to submit original pieces in any medium. The art does not have to be related to the artist's class work, education or profession.
If possible, artists should submit digital images, color slides or good quality photographs of their works, with a description attached, to WCC Public Information Officer Tara Humphries. Contact Ms. Humphries at 735-5151 for more details on the submission process and for assistance with photographing artwork.
WCC has four pieces among the 138 on display in the 2004 show. Those works are "Royal Bourbon," an acrylic painting by alumna Keiko Genka; "Geometric Feeling," a woven wall hanging by alumna Martha Kornegay; "Pocket Full of Sunshine," a photo by Basic Skills Program staff member Carolyn Hill; and "Hot Stuff," a watercolor painting by Continuing Education Division instructor Ann Humphries. This is the fourth consecutive year Ms. Humphries' art has been chosen for the exhibit.
The current show, in the Caswell Building in Raleigh, is open to the public and will be on display until Dec. 31.
