Five hurt in wrecks

Five people were injured and damages were estimated at $49,000 in six recent traffic collisions in Wayne County.

•Damages were estimated at $5,000 in a three-vehicle collision at 3:58 a.m. Sunday on Slaughter Street near Lincoln Drive, Goldsboro police said. One driver, Julius Isadore Reid, 20, of Beech Street, was charged with driving while impaired, hit and run and failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision. The report said Reid’s car collided with two parked vehicles, registered to Tommy Ray Atkins of Davis Road, Snow Hill, and Sandra Kay Wheeler of Slaughter Street. The driver fled but was arrested a few blocks away on Mulberry Street, police said.

•A driver was injured and damages were estimated at $8,000 in a two-car collision at 4:48 p.m. Saturday at South Madison Avenue and East Pine Street, police said. Tashombi Azeckry Bailey, 30, of Bunche Drive was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. The other motorist, Sharon C. Grieve, 33, of Scriven Road, was charged with a yield violation at a stop sign. Police said Ms. Grieve’s westbound auto collided with Bailey’s southbound car.

•Both drivers were injured and both vehicles were demolished in a crash at 7:27 a.m. Thursday at Durham Lake Road and Sandhill Drive, the Highway Patrol said. William Sower, 30, of Holly Springs and Felicia Gail Davis, 37, of Shirley Drive, Dudley, were released after emergency-room treatment. Sower was charged with a stop-sign violation. The eastbound pickup that Sower was driving collided with Ms. Davis’ southbound car, troopers said. The vehicles were valued at $14,000.

•Two people were injured and damages were estimated at $5,500 in a two-vehicle crash at 4:45 p.m. Friday on U.S. 70 East near East Ash Street, police said. One driver, Edward John Kelly V, 44, and his passenger, Katherine Kelly, 9, both of Quail Drive, were released after emergency-room treatment. The other driver, Julio Marrero Lara, 31, of Jimmy’s Drive, Seven Springs, was charged with failure to reduce speed and no operator’s license after the rear-end crash.

•Damages were estimated at $11,500 in a two-vehicle wreck at 7:20 a.m. Thursday at South Beston Road and Brian’s Point Court, the Highway Patrol said. One driver, Michael Wayne Edwards, 35, of Deer Acres Drive, was charged with a safe-movement violation. The report said Edwards was making a left turn and his pickup truck collided with an oncoming, northbound car driven by Vince Julian Watson, 31, of Piney Grove Church Road, LaGrange.

•Damages were put at $5,000 in a two-vehicle wreck at 5:39 p.m. Wednesday at U.S. 70 and Beston Road, the Highway Patrol said. One driver, Christopher David Daniel, 17, of Old Black Creek Road, Fremont, was charged with a safe-movement violation. The report said Daniel was starting a left turn onto U.S. 70 and the car collided with a southbound minivan driven by Roger Orlando Turner, 66, of Ellington Way, LaGrange.

Investigations

Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:

•Eighty music compact discs, 10 DVD movies, a DVD player, a video-game system and $5 were stolen Saturday after a door was damaged at a home in the 1600 block of Palm Street, police said. The resident, David M. Coor Sr., estimated the property’s value at $1,585 and damage at $500.

•A green Craftsman lawn tractor with a 46-inch deck was stolen between Saturday and Sunday from a yard in the 100 block of Edgebrook Drive, sheriff’s deputies said. The resident and owner, A.B. Tarnate put a $2,500 value on the tractor.

•A black Kinetic moped and a helmet were stolen Sunday from a parking lot in the 600 block of North Carolina Street, police said. The property, owned by Colean Best of Goldsboro, was valued at $760.

Wanted

Anthony Lacel Battle

A 34-year-old Goldsboro man is wanted by Goldsboro police on two charges of possession of stolen goods and one charge each of breaking and entering, larceny and resisting arrest in connection with a break-in at New Hope United Methodist Church.

Anthony Lacel Battle, whose last-known address was on Atlantic Avenue, was described as black, 5-feet-11 and 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information on his location was asked to call Investigator Dale Foster at 580-4217 or Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 735-2255.

15th drug charge

A 15th person was arrested Saturday night by Goldsboro police in a two-month undercover drug operation against street- and mid-level dealers.

Lesean Levell Dingle, 25, of South Andrews Avenue was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and sale and delivery of cocaine. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 secured bond.

Missing

Two teen-aged boys have been reported missing by relatives to Wayne County authorities.

•Akeem Dominique Edwards, 15, of 304 Carla Ann Drive, Pikeville, was described as black, 5-feet-7 and 165 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was seen last at 2:30 p.m. Friday. No clothing description was available.

•Jason Antoine Hagans, 13, of 230 Seymour Drive was described as black, 5-feet-4 and 125 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion. When he was seen last at 8:50 a.m. Saturday, he was wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans and a black and gray coat.
