600 flu shots
A total of 600 flu shots will be available at the Wayne County Health Department to individuals considered high risk beginning Tuesday.
Clinic hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
People planning to attend are asked to arrive no earlier than 7 a.m.
To save processing time, people with access to the Internet may go on line at www.wchd.net to print out and complete the registration form before the clinic. Patients must bring the completed form on the day of the clinic.
People are also required to bring proof of identification and will be asked to sign a form verifying they are high risk. There will be a $15 charge for the flu vaccine to those who do not have Medicare or Medicaid. You should bring your health coverage card with you.
All parking spaces surrounding the county office building on Tuesday will be reserved for flu shot clinic patients.
American Indian exhibit
The Wayne County Museum is featuring an exhibit called "Pre-Columbian Archaeology: Pre-history of the Americas."
Dr. Daniel Gall, an associate professor at Mount Olive College who has an extensive American Indian collection, created the exhibit. The display includes prehistoric artifacts from eastern North Carolina and covers a span of almost 10,000 years. The exhibit will be up through December.
On Sunday, Nov. 21, Gall will give a slide presentation titled "Prehistoric Indian Cultures of North Carolina" at 2 p.m., followed by light refreshments.
The museum is at 116 N. William St. in Goldsboro and is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Operation Christmas Child
This is the final week to deliver shoe boxes at Adamsville Baptist Church for Operation Christmas Child.
The shoe boxes filled with small gifts for needy children can be taken to the church, 1302 N. Berkeley Blvd., at the following times: Nov. 15, 3 to 7 p.m.; Nov. 16, 10 a.m. to noon, 3 to 7 p.m.; Nov. 17, 3 to 7 p.m.; Nov. 18, 10 a.m. to noon, 3 to 6 p.m.; Nov. 19, 3 to 6 p.m.; Nov. 20, 2 to 5 p.m.; Nov. 21, 1 to 3 p.m., 5 to 8 p.m.
The drop-off site will be closed Nov. 22, which is shipping day.
The Adamsville Children's Choir will present the Operation Christmas Child musical tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the church.
Stagestruck auditions
Stagestruck will hold auditions for "Peter Pan" beginning Saturday, Nov. 20.
Registration begins 30 minutes prior to each audition time.
Kindergarten and first grade students will audition for Tinkerbells and Buccaneers at 10 a.m. on Nov. 20 at the Stagestruck warehouse, 113 W. Chestnut St.
Sixth- through 12th-graders will audition Monday, Nov. 22, at 4 p.m. at the warehouse.
Second- through fifth-graders will audition on Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 4 p.m. at Herman Park Center.
Those auditioning must be Wayne County residents and bring a current picture. Parents should come in and fill out an audition form, then leave. There is no fee for auditions, but there will be fees for those who are cast.
The show will be performed at the Paramount Theatre on Thursday through Sunday, Feb. 24 through 27.

Bloodmobile
The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross will have a Bloodmobile today from 1 to 5:30 p.m. at Providence United Methodist Church. Donors will receive a coupon for a free car wash.
