Teen indicted for assault charge

A Goldsboro teen-ager has been indicted on an assault charge after a stabbing, and two men have been indicted on multiple sex offenses.

The indictments were three of the 33 true bills handed up by the Wayne County Grand Jury during its monthly meeting.

Pauleshia Jacquell Ruffin, 17, of Fairview Circle was indicted on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill while inflicting serious injury.

Ms. Ruffin had argued with a neighbor, Camesha Hines, 21, on June 1, then stabbed her and fled. Ms. Hines was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. Ms. Ruffin was arrested later that day.

Christopher John McAdams, 29, of St. John Church Road was indicted on two counts of first-degree statutory rape, one count of a first-degree sexual offense and four counts of indecent liberties with a child.

Anthony Brewington, 46, of Thoroughfare Road was indicted on two counts each of statutory rape of a 13-year-old girl, second-degree rape, indecent liberties with a child, and a lewd and lascivious act.

The grand jurors also returned 11 true bills on such property crimes as breaking and entering, larceny, possession of stolen goods and burglary.

Five people were indicted for drug offenses, four each on sex or fraud charges and three each on weapons or assault charges.

One person was indicted on a traffic violation.

Two people also were indicted as habitual criminals.
