The Duplin Animal Rescue Team announces the following dates for upcoming pet adoptions.

The pet adoptions are held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the K-Mart on College Road in Wilmington. The next adoption is Saturday, Oct. 30.

Then, they will be held Saturday, Nov. 6; Sunday, Nov. 7; Saturday, Nov. 13; Saturday, Nov. 20; Sunday, Nov. 21; and Saturday, Dec. 4.

The dates are subject to change, because the team is made up of volunteers. For information or to confirm a week before the event, call 910-616-3976 for dog and puppy information and 910-233-5339 for cat and kitten information. The team is also on the Internet at www.DARTNC.org.

The team began in February when residents organized to stop the Duplin County Animal Control shelter in Kenansville from killing large numbers of animals at one time in small concrete gas chambers.

The money paid for each new pet helps the group fund future rescue efforts.
