Man wounded
A 31-year-old man was wounded Saturday night, and another man was arrested within minutes and charged with the shooting, according to Goldsboro police reports.
The two men live at Casey's Trailer Lodge at 1700 S. Slocumb St., where the shooting occurred at about 6:30 p.m.
The victim, identified as Alexander A. Henriquez, was rushed by ambulance to Wayne Memorial Hospital. His condition was not immediately known.
Henriquez was fighting with another man, the report said, and the suspect pulled out a pistol and shot the victim.
Police charged Felipe Milan Fuentes, 37, with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill while inflicting serious injury. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 secured bond.
Plant fire
An oven used to make rubber seals caught on fire today at Cooper Standard Products and caused an estimated $2,500 in damages, a Goldsboro fire official said.
Assistant Fire Chief Ray Boyette said the fire spread from the oven into duct work that ran to the top of the big building at 308 Fedelon Trail. Plant maintenance workers then evacuated the building.
A sprinkler system was activated and contained the fire, Boyette said.
About 18 firefighters answered the 7:47 a.m. call with three engines, a ladder truck and a command car. They remained until 9 a.m. to put out the fire, ventilate the building and investigate the cause.
"It looked a lot worse than it was," Boyette said.
He commended the firefighters for their quick response in finding the fire and putting it out.
Seven hurt in wrecks
Seven people were injured in six recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*Two people were injured at 7:58 a.m. Saturday on North Herman Street near Dortch Street, Goldsboro police said. Ileshia Devon Shirley, 34, and her passenger, Julisicia Shirley, 12, both of Hinson Street, were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. The other motorist, Abigale Pearce, 17, of Kinston, was charged to failure to reduce speed.
*Four people were injured and damages were estimated at $7,000 at 5:35 p.m. Thursday at Wayne Memorial Drive and Stoney Creek Church Road, the Highway Patrol said. Cheree Maria Booker, 23, of N.C. 111 North, left Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. Ms. Booker's passenger, Nyquan McCullough, 19, of Duck Ridge Drive, Pikeville, and the other driver, Carlina Luscina Gunter, 30, and her passenger, Shaunaya Gunter, 11, both of J.W. Road, Pikeville, were released after emergency-room treatment. Ms. Booker was charged with a safe-movement violation.
*Damages were estimated at $7,000 at 12:05 p.m. Thursday on N.C. 111 near Spring Bank Road, the Highway Patrol said. Alian Quintero, 17, of Latino Drive, Seven Springs, was charged with failure to reduce speed. The other motorist was identified as William Earl Farmer, 31, of West Hooks River Road.
*Damages were put at $5,500 at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday on Rosewood Road near Parkwood Lane, the Highway Patrol said. Monica Grace Eason, 30, of Mill Creek Road, Princeton, was charged with failure to reduce speed. Michael Wayne Bragg, 21, of Rosewood Road, was charged with a seat-belt violation.
*A driver parked his truck in a lot in the 2500 block of U.S. 70 West and got out and then the pickup rolled backwards, the Highway Patrol said. Cleaford Earl Weeks Jr., 60, of Westwood Drive, ran after the truck and was struck by it as it rolled into a fence. Weeks was released after emergency-room treatment.
*Damages were estimated at $7,500 at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday on Parkstown Road near Mark Edwards Road, the Highway Patrol said. The motorist, Steven Hayes Chapin, 19, of Dina Drive, LaGrange, was charged with reckless driving . He told a trooper that he had fallen asleep and the car ran into a bridge railing and sign.
Hand bells stolen
Twenty-five brass hand bells were stolen from New Hope United Methodist Church, Goldsboro police reported.
A Yamaha keyboard and a DVD player also were stolen. The hand bells were valued at $7,000 and the other property at $801. No sign of forced entry was listed.
Wayne County law-enforcement officers also are investigating these reports:
*A .22 caliber revolver was stolen after a door was damaged at a home in the 3000 block of U.S. 70 West, sheriff's deputies said. The weapon, owned by V.G. Smith, was valued at $15.
*A black, four-door 2002 Dodge Neon was stolen Sunday from the 200 block of Little Dove Road, deputies said. The owner and resident, Cherry Walls, put a $6,000 value on the car.
*Tools were stolen after a truck door was damaged in the 100 block of D&W Circle, deputies said. The owner and resident, B. Martinez, estimated the tools' value at $120.
*Prescription medicine and change were stolen after a window was damaged at a mobile home in Tanglewood Trailer Park on Central Heights Road, Goldsboro police said. The resident, B.L. Ford, estimated the value of the stolen property at $11 and damage at $75.
Stolen vehicles
A Dudley man left keys in two trucks last week and returned a few days later to discover that both pickups were gone, according to Wayne County Sheriff's Office reports. Charles Lee Moore of Outlaw Road told deputies that a 1991 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer and a 1984 Chevrolet S-10 were stolen. The trucks were valued at $3,000.
Missing
Two people have been reported missing by relatives to Goldsboro police.
*Dennis Faulk, 27, of 702 Waters St. was described as black, 6-feet-1 and 185 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion. When he was seen last at 2 a.m. Oct. 3, he was wearing gray pants and brown and white shoes.
*Yadshae Dashon Jones, 15, of 302-A Brazil St. was described as black, 5-feet-9 and 150 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion. When he was seen last at 5 p.m. Saturday, he was wearing a blue shirt, light pants and white shoes.
