Wesleyan College will offer another option for lateral-entry teachers to earn certification.
Registration starts Wednesday for education classes being offered for teachers from kindergarten through high school. Classes begin Oct. 13.
Classes will be offered in Goldsboro one night a week for eight weeks.
Dr. Martha Burkhart-Cawley, director on the Goldsboro campus, said the courses are ideal for teachers already working.
"They can come at night and further their education, without having to leave the community to do it," she said.
The lateral-entry program is an aid for enlisting teachers in the classroom. Candidates have an undergraduate degree and are given a time period to complete the requirements to become licensed as a teacher.
Classes being offered will focus on education foundations and exceptional children. There is a cap of 24 students in each class.
Dr. Burkhart-Cawley said additional classes will be added in such areas as technology in education, classroom management and education theory.
