Working together at last
Jamie Wooten and Kevin Scott, both former Wayne County residents enjoying successful careers in the entertainment business, have finally gotten the chance to work together.
Scott is doing the casting for "Half and Half" this season, a television series that Wooten has served as co-executive producer and writer since its beginning.
This is season number three for the comedy that airs on Mondays at 8:30 p.m. on UPN.
Wooten is pleased that Scott is working on the show.
Executive Producer "Yvette Bowser worked with him before," Wooten said. "We had always wanted him."
Wooten is a graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and Scott is a graduate of Eastern Wayne. They did not meet until both were in L.A.
"Isn't that unbelievable that two Wayne County boys are together on a TV show?" Wooten said.
Are they enjoying working together?
You bet!
"We laugh all the time," Wooten said.
In addition to the series, Wooten is trying his hand at writing plays. He is working on a comedy about three Southern women in their forties. The play takes place the day before and the day of a wedding.
Wooten hopes to have its premiere in Asheville.
He is also writing and producing a lullaby album for Baby Gap. The album is expected to be released this spring.
Author to speak
Michael Wegman, an area author, will be at the Wayne County Public Library on Oct. 7 to discuss his book, "Caveat Games."
Wegman will be reading selections from the action-thriller and signing copies of the book. The reading begins at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Gertrude Weil Auditorium.
