Wayne County reporter dies

PRINCETON -- Greg Tobolski, 36, a reporter for the Princeton and Wayne-Wilson News-Leader newspapers, died Saturday in New Jersey where he had gone to attend a wedding.

The owner of the two weekly newspapers, Barry Merrill, said today that Tobolski was talking to his father early Saturday morning when he died peacefully.

Tobolski grew up in Vineland, N.J., and graduated from Elon University. His family then moved to Burlington.

Merrill said Tobolski suffered from Marfans Syndrome, a hereditary disorder characterized by blood circulation problems by tall people with long extremities. But he said he was not sure of the exact cause of death.

He is survived by his parents, Richard F. and Dorothy Lee Baines Tobolski of Elon.

The funeral will be held Saturday at noon at in the chapel of Lowe Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

The family will be at the funeral home to receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday and other times at his parents' home at 3441 Dodd Road, Elon.
