Investigations
The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating the following crimes:
*Preservation North Carolina reported someone did $550 worth of damage while trying to steal the plumbing pipes out of a vacant house that is being restored, but they stopped when the thief discovered the pipes weren't copper. Barbara Wishy of Preservation North Carolina said she went to the house on North James Street to work on it Saturday and found someone had entered through a back upstairs window. She said nothing was missing, but three windows downstairs and one upstairs and walls in a downstairs kitchen and bathroom and an upstairs kitchen and bathroom had been damaged.
*Bryce Williams of Hugh Street was treated and released early this morning for a gunshot wound to the foot. He said two women he does not know entered his bedroom and began to argue with him about another woman. He said one of the women shot him with a handgun. He said they appeared to be in their 30s. One was black and one was white, he said.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is investigating the following crimes:
*An employee of the Subway at 395 N.C. 111 South reported discovering Friday morning that someone had entered the restaurant after closing and gone through the cash register. The employee who came in to open said she found the back door unlocked and no signs of forced entry. She said the only thing that appeared missing was some change.
*The owner of the Headdress Salon & Spa at 475 Buck Swamp Road, Pikeville, said she discovered a break-in Friday morning. She found $390 worth of cash and some checks missing. She said she looked for the bank bag, which had been hidden, and it was also missing. She told the investigating officer that the key to the register is hidden every night, and someone "knew right where it was." She said nothing had been moved around, but she found the door unlocked.
*Detectives are investigating a larceny from the home of Richard Nergil Walker of Spring Bank Road. Missing items included silver coins, a DVD player and his wallet containing his identification, Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare cards and $20 cash. It was all valued at $252. He said he had a party at his home, and he fell asleep around midnight. He said he awoke two hours later, and the items and one of his party guests were gone.
*Randy Todd Bill of U.S. 70 West reported his vehicle stolen. The white 1997 Buick LeSabre four-door was worth $4,000. He said he woke up Friday morning, and it was missing from his yard. He said he had left the keys in the ignition and the doors unlocked.
*Miguel Ponce Torres of Big Daddy's Road, Pikeville, reported the theft of his .357 caliber Smith & Wesson 60-14 from his vehicle. He said it was stolen some time between 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday and 8 a.m. Friday from his 1995 Ford Escort while it was parked at his house. The report said there were no signs of forced entry. The gun was valued at $451.
